Accessibility

At Bungle Bungle Guided Tours, we are passionate about sharing the wonder of Purnululu National Park, a remote UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscape in the heart of the East Kimberley. We are committed to making our experiences as inclusive and accessible as possible, while being transparent about the unique challenges of operating in such a remote and rugged environment.

Due to the natural terrain, remote location, and limited infrastructure within the National Park, our tours are not suitable for guests who use wheelchairs or have highly restricted mobility. However, we welcome guests with limited mobility and cater to a range of access needs wherever possible. Our experienced team is trained in disability awareness, and our guided walks are paced to accommodate slower walkers.

Below, you’ll find helpful information about the accessibility features of our tours to help you plan your visit.

Pre-Arrival, Arrival, and Bookings

We offer multiple booking channels, including phone, email, and an online portal. Our team is here to help with personalised advice and information in plain English. You’ll also find that our online forms use high-contrast fields and accessible submit buttons.

On arrival, you’ll receive written maps and information, and all guests are offered a familiarisation briefing. Our guides will identify any additional support needs, and guests requiring assistance are noted in our tour manifest to ensure support during emergency procedures if needed.

Tour Operations and Walking Experiences

Our tours include guided walking experiences through Purnululu National Park. All walks are conducted at a moderate pace, with multiple guides available to support guests who may need to take extra time or rest. Commentary is available in both spoken and written formats. Staff at Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge are also on hand to collect tired passengers if necessary.

Please note:

  • The terrain includes natural paths, rocky surfaces, and uneven ground.
  • Some tracks include rough-hewn steps or ladders, which may not be manageable for all visitors.
  • Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are not suitable for the walking trails in the National Park.

We aim to provide inclusive experiences where possible, but due to these physical limitations, we encourage guests to review our Accessibility Guide and speak with our team if unsure.

Our touring vehicles are comfortable and air-conditioned. However, please note that:

  • Our vehicles are not fitted with wheelchair ramps or lifts.
  • There are no low-floor entry options available.

  • Written transcripts of tour commentary.

Testimonials

  • After a lovely morning tea and lunch we got back on the plane and did an air tour over the Bungle Bungles and the Argyle Diamond Mine and then back on to Kununurra.

  • Wonderful. A camera full of photos, a mind full of exceptional memories. The tour guides and lodge staff were excellent. We loved the cabins.   Alison & Robert
  • Our guide's knowledge, enthusiasm and careful explanations really added another dimension to the three walks we went on.

  • Daisy and Jen: two guides with vastly different backgrounds combined to create a surprisingly thoughtful and informative Bungle Bungles tour. Daisy brought delightful candour and mature insight into her discussion about local Aboriginal culture. Jen added her depth of knowledge of the Bungles' geology and botany. Together they worked seamlessly to walk us through the Bungles, learning as we went, and taking a great deal of care to ensure that we traveled at an easy pace, with plenty of stops for rest and hydration because of the heat. A really enjoyable and informative tour. - Physeter

  • You really get a deeper understanding of the cultural significance and history of the area than if you did the walks on your own.
