We have listed some of the best World Heritage listed sites within Australia that you need to add to your to-do list.
Blue Mountains National Park
Just a day trip away from Sydney, the Blue Mountains National Park is where you can find the famous “Three Sisters” and so many activities to do. Things to do at the Blue Mountains National Park consist of hiking, camping, climbing, canyoning and mountain biking. There are many walks that you can see the best of the national park, cliff top walking tracks, the Echo Point Lookout and the Grand Canyon Track, plus many others. Uluru
Uluru or Ayres Rock is an extremely well-known tourist destination and an icon of Australia, therefore, you should probably go see it. Located in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, there are so many things you can see and do to immerse yourself into the culture of the area. There are many bush-walking opportunities around the national park, there is also great bird watching for any bird watching enthusiasts out there. Experience both the sunset and sunrise across Uluru which glows at these times of the day. You can also get involved with the cultural side of things at the Cultural Centre and participating in a tour around the park.
Fraser Island
Fraser Island, located off the coast of Queensland is 123km long and 22km at its widest point. The island is surround by amazing white beaches with over 100 of fresh water lakes dotted around the island. What makes Fraser Island so unique is the rainforests growing on sand dunes at elevations of around 200 metres. Fraser Island is home to some amazing wildlife and plant life that can be seen while 4wding around the island. There is also an abundance of marine life that inhabit the surroundings of the islands shoreline.
Great Barrier Reef
Being the world largest coral reef that consists of abundant marine life, over 100 tropical islands and over 3000 individual reef systems, the Great Barrier Reef is one of those place that have to be on your list. From snorkeling to scuba diving or just doing boat tours, the reef will not disappoint. This World Heritage site is also one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The sheer size of the reef is simply amazing and is the only living thing that can be seen from space.
The Bungle Bungles
The Bungle Bungle Range that is located in the world heritage listed Purnululu National Park is a very unique rock formation that is a sandstone range that has been eroded and weathered away from harsh desert winds to result in the famous domes. You can travel to the National Park by scenic plane or helicopter or drive via a 4wd track, which passes the Bungle Bungle Caravan park as you come off of the Great Northern Highway. The Bungle Bungles in WA are an under-rated tourist attraction and offer a lot more than people think with amazing ground tours and a relaxing lodge to stay in.
